STUDY PROCESS
During phase one, we conducted eleven focus groups and additional cognitive interviews in urban, suburban, and rural Illinois with Black males.
FOCUS GROUPS
Focus group participation involved being part of a group discussion with seven to ten other English speaking, Black men between 18 and 24 years old.
KEY INFORMANT MEETING
Key informant meetings involved being part of a group discussion with approximately seven to nine other Black women age 18 or older who had a significant relationship with a young man 18 to 14 who could meet the study eligibility requirements.
INTERVIEWS
All interviews occurred in-person in a pre-arranged location to answer questions during a one-on-one meeting with a Black male interviewer.
