One-on-one interviews…

Potential participants were asked, either over the phone or in person, to answer some questions about themselves and the types of violence they might have experienced. When eligible, they were scheduled for a one-on-one interview.

All interviews occurred in-person and involved coming to an agreed upon location to answer questions in a one-on-one setting with a Black male interviewer. The interviews lasted approximately two hours and participants were paid $50 cash for their time plus parking costs.

Their responses were combined with responses given by other participants and never shown individually, meaning their responses can never be connected back to them personally.
